Voice of Experience: IMVU Switches from Redis to ScyllaDB

imvu

A popular social community with more than 100,000 concurrent active users, IMVU enables people all over the world to interact with each other using 3D avatars on their desktops, tablets, and mobile devices. In order to meet growing requirements for scale, IMVU decided it needed a more performant solution than their previous database architecture of Memcached in front of MySQL and Redis.

IMVU found that ScyllaDB was very easy to install and maintain. They quickly got excellent performance results and liked how easy it was to scale a ScyllaDB cluster. Ken Rudy, a senior software engineer at IMVU, was also very happy with the support from ScyllaDB. “What issues I did have, I managed to get help with before we even signed the enterprise contact. By email, they were responsive within a day or two. And by Slack, they were responsive within minutes.”
