PALO ALTO, CALIF. – February 27, 2019 – ScyllaDB today announced ScyllaDB University, a free, online learning resource for those looking to master the use of the highly performant and scalable ScyllaDB NoSQL database. The first free online course, ScyllaDB Essentials, is available today along with other valuable self-paced learning materials.
The ScyllaDB open source database has the high availability and fault tolerance of Apache Cassandra but significantly reduces the number of database nodes an organization requires. ScyllaDB self-optimizes to dynamic workloads and various hardware configurations. It is available in several deployment options including the ScyllaDB Cloud database as service.
With ScyllaDB University, ScyllaDB users have access to a single, unified source of training material that is suitable for practitioners at all levels of expertise. Course materials include videos, slides, and hands-on labs in which trainees are given the opportunity to put theory into practice. Each course is organized into modular segments, enabling users to advance incrementally and at their own pace. Each module contains tests to validate comprehension, while interactive exercises and hands-on labs reinforce the topics being studied.
“Our goal is to be engaging and fun, yet also practical and effective,” said Guy Shtub, Training Product Lead at ScyllaDB. “We want to make sure that everyone has a single point of entry to the knowledge base of skills to master the powerful ScyllaDB database. To that end, we made ScyllaDB University an easy-to-use resource for training, advice, and best practices.“
Additional courses and learning materials are under development, and include an in-depth ScyllaDB Administration course, advanced architecture topics, troubleshooting guidelines, best practices, and advanced data modeling. Registered users will be notified about new content, software releases and other updates.
“As our community grows, we needed a training solution that scales to thousands of users and allows them to learn at their own pace,” said Dor Laor, CEO and co-founder of ScyllaDB. “We invite anyone who’s working with database technology to enroll in ScyllaDB University to learn more about NoSQL in general, and ScyllaDB in particular.”
